Why We’re Here

More Than a Game

Soccer in the Country is an Upward Soccer ministry hosted by Church in the Country. Our goal is to provide a quality recreational soccer experience while using the relationships soccer creates to share the love of Jesus.

Families and coaches do not have to attend Church in the Country — or any church — to participate. Every game includes a 15-minute combined halftime devotional.

Teach the game. Love the kids. Point them to Jesus.

Quick Answers

When do practices begin?

The first official practice week begins September 28. Each team has one official 60-minute practice each week.

What should we buy right now?

Solid black athletic shorts, shin guards, soccer cleats or tennis/athletic shoes, the correct-size soccer ball and a water bottle. The league provides matching colored game socks.

Does my child bring a ball to games?

No. Bring the personal soccer ball to practices, but leave it at home on game days.

What cleats are allowed?

Soccer cleats are allowed. Tennis or athletic shoes are also fine. Football and baseball cleats are not allowed.

How much will my child play?

Every player will play at least three of the four quarters in every game.

What happens if it rains?

Rain alone does not automatically cancel soccer. League leadership will make decisions based on field conditions, forecast and safety. Lightning means play stops. Wait for official league communication before assuming an event is canceled.

How will teams communicate?

GroupMe is the official day-to-day communication system. Each team will have its own Team GroupMe.

Do we have to attend Church in the Country?

No. Soccer in the Country is open to families throughout the area. You do not have to attend Church in the Country or any church to participate.
